AEGEAN AIRLINES

When sustainability moves from theory to practice

Benefits: Sustainability | Easy Implementation | Active Participation

The Challenge

As Greece’s largest airline, AEGEAN has long invested in initiatives that strengthen its responsible operations. When the company decided to enhance recycling practices across its workplaces, the challenge was not simply to install recycling stations.

It was to design a system that would work in practice: easy to use, clear to everyone and tailored to employees’ different needs and daily habits.

The VARIO Approach

Working with the AEGEAN team, we studied the operational spaces, daily workflows and the different waste streams generated at each location. We designed a comprehensive recycling solution that included:

  • Modular recycling stations tailored to the needs of each space
  • Their optimal placement
  • A clear, easy-to-understand signage system that made correct waste separation simple and intuitive

The Result

Recycling was seamlessly integrated into the company’s day-to-day operations.

Correct waste separation and active employee participation increased.

The success of the initial implementation led to the solution being extended to additional areas, with a total of 30 recycling stations installed.

Sustainability moved from an objective to an everyday practice.
